My parents got a divorce when I was younger and both have moved on. The problem is that my stepfather tries to hard to be my father. It seems that sometimes he is always pushing to do things with me when I have plans with my dad and tries to get me to cancel them. I don’t mind my step dad but sometimes he can be a bit too much for me. What should I do?

Dear Tim,
I think it is nice for your step dad to want to spend time with you but it seems like he is over doing it. I think you should talk to your mom and step dad about his and let him know that you do look up to him and want to spend time with him but you want to also spend time with your dad as well. Let him know that you do enjoy hanging out with him but that you want to be able to hang out with your dad too. Hopefully then he can get the hint and not be so pushy next time around.
