Dear Jasmine,
I am having trouble with my neighbor’s cat. His cat is always coming over to my yard and ruining my flowers. I mentioned it a couple of times to him and he said he would be more careful but the cat has still gotten over to my yard a number of times.
I don’t know what I should say to him because although this is bothersome I don’t want to create a hostile relationship with him. Is there any nice way to put it?

Dear Joanna,
I think that perhaps you could invite your neighbor over for dinner one day and on the way in or out, show him the flowers his cat ruined. I want to also ask if you have seen his cat do it because it could also be another person’s cat. You don’t want to blame him if it isn’t him.
If you are sure it is him, then just bring it up to him again and let him know that you really do appreciate his friend and adore his cat but you really care about your flowers too.
Perhaps you could build something around your flowers that make it harder for the cat to get to. In any case, try brainstorming with your neighbor to come up with a solution to this problem.
Always here,
Jasmine
