I met a guy last month at a bar and ended up hooking up with him. We saw each other a few times but it never really materialize into anything. Last week when I went out with a group of friends, I found out that he was dating this girl who happens to be the sister of my friend. Turns out they were dating for over a year already. He was there that night and acted like he didn’t even know me.
I was pretty shocked to find out he was dating because he told me that he wasn’t dating and has been single for a long time. I am not really friends with my friend’s sister but I feel as if I need to tell my friend so she can warn her sister about this guy. The problem is I am afraid that this will create friction between my friend and I because I know how sticky these situations can get. What do you think I should do?

Dear Alana,
This guy sounds like a real jerk that knew exactly what he was doing. I think that because you do not know your friend’s sister that well you should let your friend know what’s going on. Just let her know that you met this guy a month ago and ended up hooking up with him after he told you he was single. It could very well be your word against his and hopefully your friend’s sister will see through his lies. Whatever the case may be you haven’t done anything wrong, you didn’t even know he was dating anyone, much less someone you know.
