Dear Jasmine,
I have a best friend name Tonya. We have been friends for almost 5 years. This is our senior year in high school and so far things have been great. The only problem is Tonya’s boyfriend. He often times calls me when he has a problem with Tonya and tries to get me to talk to her about it.
I don’t really know him expect that he is her boyfriend. I don’t really want to talk to him or have him call me. The thing is I don’t want my best friend to be mad that I don’t want to talk to her boyfriend. What do you think I should do?

Dear Wendy,
I think the first thing you should do is talk to your best friend about this. Besides just letting her boyfriend know point blank that you prefer that he doesn’t call, you should let your best friend know what has been going on because she very well could be oblvious to the whole situation. Let her know that her boyfriend tends to call you whenever they have a problem and that it bothers you.
I think that if you tell her that you prefer to help her through things, you don’t necessarily want to be involved with her boyfriend too. That way she can talk to her boyfriend about it and hopefully the phone calls will stop.
Always here,
Jasmine
